Sharath Kamal wins singles gold

In table tennis singles event of the 34th Jharkhand National Games, Sharath has won singles gold.

A.V. Jayaveena, a 12-year-old sensation swimmer from Tamil Nadu, was the cynosure of all eyes at the 34th National Games at Ranchi. Jayaveena, who had clinched two bronze medals earlier, emerged with her first silver in her pet event — 50m breaststroke.





Caroline Wozniacki wins Dubai tennis title

Women’s number one tennis player Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark has won the singles title of Dubai Tennis Championship. In one sided final match played in Dubai last night, she defeated world number sixteenth C Kuznetsova of Russia 6-1. 6-3.





Kenyan Mugu Antony Ngudu triumphed at the SDAT Chennai Marathon 2011, comfortably outpacing Indian rival Ramsingh, as he logged just over two hours and 15 minutes in covering the 42.2 km course, on 13 February.





Tamil nadu won the K.S. Subbaiah Pillai Trophy one day cricket tournament by defeating Hyderabad in Perinthalmanna,Kerala. 





Virdhawal Khade of Maharashtra and Richa Mishra of Delhi are termed to be the best swimmers in the 34th National Games held in jharkand.

Khade won two golds with record time on the final day to take home eight gold medals all with record time and a silver. Richa won 11 golds, four silvers and a bronze for a total of a whooping 16 medals. Such a wonderful performance earned them the tag of best swimmers. 

Tamil Nadu's teenage sensation A.V. Jayaveena won her third bronze medal in the 100m breaststroke while her elder brother Jayawant Vijaya Kumar earned a bronze in a tough field of 100m freestyle.





Tennis legend Andre Agassi inducted into international Hall of fame.





Bubba watson won the $ 5.8 million farmers insurance golf open, claimed his second career US PGA title.





India bagged the overall championship in the fifth Common Wealth Taekwondo Championship, which concluded in Chennai.





Top Indian squash player, Dipika Pallikal, reached her career-best ranking in WISPA by rising to the 24th sport.





Abhinav Bindra wins gold in France

Olympic champion Abhinav Bindra won the air rifle gold in the French GP in Paris. 

Bindra shot a total of 698.9 to beat Valerian Sauveplane of France by 0.6 points.





South zone lifted the Duleep trophy after a gap of 15 years beating north zone by 7 wickets at visakhapatnam.





Gaganjeet Bhullar won the PGTI players Golf Championship conducted in Kolkata.





Book on Tendulkar

A book on the maestro titled ‘Sachin – Genius Unplugged'. The book, an anthology of essays on Tendulkar edited by journalist Suresh Menon, and priced at Rs. 599 will be available at retail outlets from February 14.The book features articles on Tendulkar written by eminent writers and players like Peter Roebuck, Mike Coward, Kumble and Dravid.

Dravid released the book and gave the first copy to Kumble.






V.V.S. Laxman and Sachin Tendulkar won ESPNcricinfo awards

V.V.S. Laxman and Sachin Tendulkar won the awards for best batting performances in Tests and ODIs respectively, while Dale Steyn bagged the top prize in Test bowling in the fourth annual ESPNcricinfo Awards.





Former Indian Cricket player Allrounder Robin Singh will coach the United States cricket team in the qualifying rounds (America) for the under-19 World cup.





India's first cricket mentoring portal launched

India's first cricket mentoring portal — CricketMentor.tv — was launched in the hallowed presence of India's World Cup squad





Sunil Gavaskar presented the 1979 CEAT player of the award to Gordon Greednidge.
