Nuclear talks with Iran leave Ashton disappointed

Talks between world powers and Iran ended  without progress in tackling concerns over Tehran's nuclear programme, and EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton.

China developed stealth JET using American technology

A new high-tech stealth fighter, built by China which could threaten American air supremacy may well have been built with US technology.

Nighthawks were the world’s first stealth fighters — planes hard for radars to detect. But on March 27, 1999, during Nato’s aerial bombing of Serbia in the Kosovo war, a Serbian anti-aircraft missile shot one of the Nighthawks down.
It was the first time one of the “invisible” fighters had ever been hit. The Pentagon believed clever tactics and sheer luck with a Soviet-built SA-3 missile did the trick. The wreckage was strewn over flat farmlands, and civilians collected the parts — some the size of small cars — as souvenirs.

International food festival at JNU

Jawaharlal Nehru University here is a melting pot of cultures of over 50 countries and what a better way for students to know each other than to explore each other's cuisine at the International Food Festival to be held in the campus on Republic Day.

Foreign Students' Association (FSA) in JNU, a platform of foreign students representing over 50 countries of the world, is organising the Food Festival, an annual event in the University's calendar, when students from the respective countries showcase and serve their traditional dishes to the larger university community.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has nominated the Head of Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran and the caretaker Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi as the country's Foreign Minister.


Food inflation falls to 15.52%

Food inflation slid for the second week in a row, declining to 15.52 pc for the week ended 8th Jan, but gave no 'consolation' either to the govt or the common man as vegetable prices continued to rule high.

CD on Bal Thackeray released on his 84th birthday

Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray and party's executive president Uddhav Thackeray released a CD — a compilation of Bal Thackeray's speeches, interviews, articles and photographs  on the occasion of the senior Thackeray's 84th birthday.

According to a press release issued by the party, the CD titled Hinduhridaysamrat — Vicharanche Sone and Bindhast Bole is an edited compilation of his Dasara rally speeches, his interviews and articles written by famous personalities on him in the past 20 years.


Best Chemistry Teacher Award-2011

B. Madhusudhan Reddy has secured the Best Chemistry Teacher Award-2011 from the Chemical Research Society of India (CRSI).

The CRSI best chemistry teacher award would be presented to Madhusudhan Reddy during the national symposium in chemistry at Bhubaneshwar in Orissa on February 5.


NMDC plans to set up its second steel plant with an investment of Rs.10,000 crore in Chhattisgarh and announce its partner for this joint venture by March.

Australian Open: Federer reaches record 27th straight QF 

Defending champion Roger Federer added another record to his vast collection on Sunday, matching Jimmy Connors' mark for consecutive Grand Slam quarterfinals appearances when he beat Tommy Robredo 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 at the Australian Open.
