U.K. to continue £280 m annual aid to India

The British government has decided to continue the more-than-£280-million development aid it gives to India annually.



China's inflation rises 4.9 per cent in January

The Chinese government said that consumer prices rose by 4.9 per cent in January, a lower-than-expected figure.

According to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the Consumer Price Index (CPI), the main gauge of inflation, was 0.3 percentage point higher than in December but still lower than November's 28-month-high of 5.1 per cent.



$3.1-billion aid for Pakistan

U.S. President Barack Obama has proposed to Congress $3.1 billion in financial assistance to Pakistan for the year 2012.

This is part of the administration's continued funding for operations and assistance in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The Vegetable and Fruit Promotion Council Keralam (VFPCK) and Nokia India Limited will launch a weather and prices information and advisory service for farmers on the SMS format using Nokia's Life Tools services.

The economic pact, to be signed by Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma and Japanese Foreign Minister Seiji Maehara, was first “agreed to, in principle,” in time for the Japan-India annual summit in October 2010. An Implementing Agreement will also be signed
