A Braille version of the Right to Information Act and its rules was released by the Gujarat Information Commission for the benefit of the visually challenged.

$150-m World Bank loan for India service system

The World Bank has approved $150 million loan for India to accelerate implementation of its National e-Governance Plan (NeGP), which is aimed at transforming the service delivery system across the country.

GAIL launches integrated gas management system

Gas utility GAIL India said it has launched Asia's first integrated gas management system to track all information on transmission and distribution of natural gas in the country.

The SAP (application)-based Gas Management System, third of its kind in the world after Petrobras in Brazil and Pemex in Mexico, was launched at GAIL's corporate office in New Delhi by Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas R P N Singh

Satish Chandra takes additional charge of NFL Chairman and Managing Director

Satish Chandra has taken additional charge as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of National Fertilizers Limited (NFL). 

Besides being on the NFL Board since October 2008, he is holding the charge of CMD of Madras Fertilizers.

Sukhadeo Thorat is new ICSSR chairperson

The Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) has nominated Sukhadeo Thorat as its chairperson for three years.

The ICSSR is fully funded by the Human Resource Development Ministry.

Award for forest conservation announced

The Rajasthan Government has selected the Forest Protection and Management Committee (Van Suraksha Evum Prabandhan Samiti) of Balicha range in Pratagarh district for the conservation award, Amrita Devi Vishnoi Smriti Puraskar, for 2010.

The annual award, given to non governmental agencies, societies and groups engaged in exemplary acts of forest conservation and wildlife protection in the State, carries a cash component of Rs.50,000.
