India has the dubious distinction of having the highest number of stillbirths in the world.

This finding comes after the country recorded the worst female child sex ratio ever (Census 2011). India figures at the top of 10 countries that have the highest number of stillbirths, according to the Stillbirth series published in the British medical journal, The Lancet.

India in Venice Biennale for the first time in 116 years

India to sign pact with Kazakh oil field

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will reach Astana, the Capital of Kazakhstan on April 15, to sign an agreement, which will give India 25 per cent stake in the Satpayev oil field on the Caspian Sea.

The deal, being negotiated by ONGC Videsh Ltd. (OVL), is expected to cost around $400 million (about Rs.1,800 crore). The deal will be signed during Dr. Singh's three-day visit for a bilateral summit between India and Kazakhstan.

Gebran Tueni Prize for Moroccan journalist

Aboubakr Jamaï, co-founder and former managing director of the weekly newspaper Le Journal Hebdomadaire, was presented the 2010 Gebran Tueni Award in Beirut on April 12.
