  • Keshav Dutt, Prasan Banerjee Chosen for Mohun Bagan Ratna Award 2019. Two-time Olympic gold medal-winning hockey player Keshav Dutt and former India football captain Prasun Banerjee will get this year’ MOHUN BAGAN Ratna Award on the annual celebration of Mohun Bagan Day on July 29.

    Mohun Bagan Ratna Award is an award presented each year on Mohun Bagan Day to outstanding former players. Every year 29 July is celebrated as Mohun Bagan Day. It is on this day in 1911 the Mariners became 1st club to defeat a British club. First recipient was former captain Sailen Manna in 2001. Mohun Bagan Day to outstanding former players.     The club will also confer life membership to distinguished personalities- Chuni Goswami, Sourav Ganguly, Dr.Vece Paes, Deb Shankar Halder and Prasenjit Chatterjee

  • Indian sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik wins People’s Choice Award in U.S. Renowned Indian sand artist and Padma Awardee Sudarsan Pattnaik has won the People’s Choice Award at a prestigious sand sculpting festival in the U.S., wowing the American public with his sculpture that highlighted the message of combating plastic pollution in oceans.

    Mr. Pattnaik was among the 15 top sand artists selected from across the world to participate in the 2019 Revere Beach International Sand Sculpting Festival in Boston, Massachusetts. He won the People’s Choice Award for his sand sculpture ‘Stop Plastic Pollution, Save Our Ocean’.


  • The annual Gandhi-Mandela Peace Medal 2019 has been awarded to Thich Nhat Hanh. Thich Nhat Hanh is a global spiritual leader, poet and peace activist. The first edition of Gandhi-Mandela Peace Initiative was held in New Delhi. The Initiative was organised by Believe Foundation in association Dr. Raman Bhai Patel Foundation (RBF).


  • The Sangeet Natak Akademi has selected 32 artists of India for Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar 2018. In the field of music, there are 8 recipients of Yuva Puraskar including Sameehan Kashalkar and Ruchira Kedar for Hindustani Vocal Music. The award carries a purse money of Rs 25,000. The Yuva Puraskar will be presented at a special ceremony, by the Chairman, Sangeet Natak Akademi.


  • The "Find the Incredible You" campaign of the Tourism Ministry, has won the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Gold Award, 2019. The campaign focuses on digital and social media and the promotion of niche tourism products of the country. This year's awards attracted 198 entries from 78 organisations and individuals worldwide. The campaign won the award under the "Marketing - Primary Government Destination" category.

    The Ministry of Tourism, as part of its promotional initiatives, annually releases Global Media Campaigns under the 'Incredible India' brand-line in the television, print, digital and social media platforms, in key and potential source markets overseas. PATA Gold Awards are given to tourism industry organizations and individuals making an outstanding contribution towards the successful promotion of the travel industry throughout the Asia Pacific Region.


  • Odisha-based Navaratna Company NALCO has been selected for President's award for utilisation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund in social development. It started a scheme Aliali Jhia in 2015 to adopt and promote the poor and talented girls for education. Under this scheme, 416 girls from BPL families of 66 villages in Anugul and Koraput districts have been adopted by Company.


  • Veteran British journalist Sir Mark Tully was conferred with Lifetime Achievement Award 2019 at UK-India Awards in London. The award celebrate special talents and organisations who use their worldwide influence to strengthen UK-India ties. Sir William Mark Tully, KBE is the former Bureau Chief of the BBC, New Delhi. He worked with the BBC for a period of 30 years before resigning in July 1994.


  • The world’s first cruise ship propelled partially by battery power sailed out from northern Norway on its maiden voyage. The hybrid expedition cruise ship, the Roald Amundsen, can take 500 passengers and is designed to sail in harsh climate waters. It is named after the Norwegian explorer who navigated the Northwest Passage in 1903-1906 and was first to reach the South Pole in 1911.
