  • Indian President Kovind honoured with Croatia's highest award "Grand Order of King". President Ram Nath Kovind has been awarded the Grand Order of King Tomislav with Sash and Grand Star by the President of Croatia for his exceptional contribution to the advancement of overall relations and development of mutual cooperation between India and Croatia and for promoting friendship and partnership between the people of both the countries. This is the highest award of the Republic of Croatia.



  • President Ram Nath Kovind on 19 March 2019 presented Gallantry Awards and Distinguished Service Decorations at the Defence Investiture Ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

    Kirti Chakras were conferred on Sepoy Vijay Kumar of Indian Army and Constable Pradip Kumar Panda of CRPF posthumously. Displaying exceptional bravery and commitment to duty during counter-terrorist operations in Jammu and Kashmir, both of them made the supreme sacrifice for the nation.

    Uttam Yudh Seva Medal was conferred on Lieutenant General Anil Kumar Bhatt for successful counter-terrorist operations conducted under him in Jammu and Kashmir



  • President Ram Nath Kovind will confer Padma awards at Rashtrapati Bhawan on 11 March 2019.  Fifty-six of the 112 personalities, who were selected for this year's Padma awards, will be conferred the honour at a special function.

    Folk Singer from Chhattisgarh Teejan Bai, President of Djibouti Ismail Omar Guelleh, Noted author and Maratha history scholar Babasaheb Purandare and executive chairman of L&T Anil Kumar Manibhai Naik are recipients of Padma Vibhushan this year (2019).

    Fourteen persons have been selected for Padma Bhushan which includes Scientist Nambi Narayan, Malayalam Actor Mohanlal, South African politician Pravin Gordhan and late journalist Kuldip Nayar.

    Ninety Four Padma Shri will be given this year (2019). The recipients include Sportspersons Sunil Chettri, Gautam Gambhir, Harika Dronavalli, Sharat Kamal, Dancer Nartaki Natraj, Farmers Kamala Pujhari and Ram Saran Verma and Social Worker Muktaben Dagli who is working for the welfare of Divyangjans.

    The awards which were announced on the eve of Republic Day, includes 21 women and 11 persons from the category of Foreigners, NRI, PIO, OCI and 1 transgender person.
