  • Madhya Pradesh government appoint filmstar Govinda as brand ambassador to promote the state’s traditions and tourist places. The government plans to set up a film city in the state and plans to promote Madhya Pradesh as a destination for film making.


  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) approves reappointment of Shyam Srinivasan as Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Federal Bank. He will serve the bank as the head for a decade - September 23, 2010-September 22, 2020.


  • Bulgaria's Kristalina Georgieva has been selected as the new head of the International Monetary Fund(IMF). She is the first person from an emerging market economy to lead the IMF. The economist succeeds Christine Lagarde for a five-year term from October, 2019. It is a huge responsibility to be at the helm of the IMF at a time when challenges to global economic growth and trade tensions persist.


  • Anjali Singh became India's first female military diplomat to be posted in any of the Indian missions abroad. Singh joined the Indian Embassy in Russia as the Deputy Air Attache. Singh is trained on MiG-29 fighter aircraft, joined her new assignment on September 10.

    She is the first female Indian Armed Forces Officer to be posted as a military diplomat in any of the Indian missions abroad. Singh is an AE (L) officer with 17 years of service. She is trained on MiG-29 aircraft,


  • UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres appointed a veteran Indian Army official as the head of the world body's observer mission in Yemen's port city of Hodeidah. Lieutenant General (retired) Abhijit Guha appointed as the Chair of the Redeployment Coordination Committee (RCC) and head of the UNMHA.


  • Kalraj Mishra has been appointed as the Governor of Rajasthan. 

  • Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan has been appointed as the Governor of Telangana. 


  • Bhagat Singh Koshyari has been appointed as the new Governor of Maharashtra. 


  • Arif Mohammed Khan has been appointed as the Kerala governor.


  • The Ministry of External Affairs appointed Shri Jaideep Sarkar as the next High Commissioner of India to the Kingdom of Lesotho. 


  • Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora on 03 September, 2019 assumed Chairmanship of Association of World Election Bodies, AWEB for the term 2019-21 as India takes over the Chair from Romania.

    India was unanimously nominated to be the Vice-Chair of AWEB at the last General Assembly held at Bucharest in 2017. The AWEB Flag was handed over to the new Chairman, Sunil Arora and it will remain with Election Commission of India for the two year term till 2021. More than 110 delegates from 45 countries attended the meeting. Mr. Arora announced that an AWEB Centre would be set up at the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management, New Delhi for documentation, research and training and fr sharing best practices.



  • Shweta Ratanpura became the first Indian woman to get a medal as the World Skills event. The event was held in Russia and was attended by 63 countries. India ended on number 13 with 1 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals. Apart from Shweta's bronze in graphic designing, Indian won silver in web technologies, another bronze in jewellery and gold in water technology.
